No visit to Tenerife is completely without a visit to Teide National Park, and this popular hiking tour ensures you get to experience all the best sights this UNESCO-listed attraction has to offer.
To start, we pick you up at your hotel and give you a ride to Teide National Park in our comfortable van. Admire the sights on the way, including the fantastic phenomenon known as the ‘sea of clouds’ that envelopes the landscape like cotton candy.
The circular Roque de Garcia trail is approximately 3.5 km long and offers a very pleasant hike of medium difficulty, rising to a maximum elevation of about 2,100m above sea level.
Begin your hike by walking past the remarkable Los Roques Chichado rock formation – layers of sedimentary rock formed over a hundred thousand years ago as result of volcanic erosion.
When you get up close you can see just how unique this formation is as it reaches up towards the sky, seemingly defying gravity.
Take in the unique splendour of the different coloured rock formations from different angles and admire the moonlike landscape. The National Park is also home to almost 200 species of plants – 32 of those completely unique to Tenerife – such as the spectacular Teide bugloss (Echium Wildpretii) and the Teide violet (Viola cheiranthifolia).
Continue your journey down to the valley of Llano de Ucanca where the scenery is so peculiar that it has been said to be the closest experience that you can have of being on Mars.
Other highlights of the tour include the waterfall-shaped lava formation La Cascada as well as the spectacular solidified lava ‘chimney’ known as The Cathedral.
This is a small group tour – Travel comfortably in our private van and enjoy the company of your friendly guides and fellow guests.
The tour is suitable for families with children. The minimum recommended age is 10 years.
