With year-round sunshine and endless waves to catch, Tenerife is a great place to learn how to surf. The island offers several surf spots that are ideal for beginners, which means there is always a beach where we can go to practise, whatever the season or weather.
Your professional guide will pick you up at your hotel, and take you to one of the best surf spots according to local weather, where the waves will be nice enough for surfing, but not too rough for beginners.
The course begins on dry land where you will be given instruction on basic surf technique. You will learn how to enter the water safely and paddle correctly, how to stand up and how to easily balance yourself on the board.
Then, it’s time to practise your new skills in the ocean. You will train on a big soft board which lets you catch the waves with more ease. Your instructor will be in the water with you, helping you catch the best waves and offering feedback and suggestions to improve your technique. Learning to surf takes patience, but most people, even total beginners, manage to eventually stand up on the board during the session. And there is nothing quite like the thrill of riding your first wave. You may have just found your new passion in life!
After the session, relax on the beach and enjoy a picnic lunch of sandwiches, snacks and soft drinks. Finally, return to your hotel with epic memories of catching the waves in the Atlantic Ocean.
