Description

We will start at the remote hamlet of Afur, hidden at 227 metres above sea level, in the Anaga Rural Park. In this area, the “Guanches”, original inhabitants of Tenerife, managed to hide and live for up to 80 years after the conquest by Spain in 1496.

All around there are high mountain walls, spectacular geological formations, ancient aboriginal caves and unspoilt nature. At the bottom of the gorges frequently running water and ponds can be found. This hike will take you along the remote gorges and coasts of Anaga. The original inhabitants “Guanches” used to live here. Experience un-accessible  a variety of beautiful mountains and sea views.

We will hike through the Tamadiste Gorge to a remote volcanic beach, where we have a rest to refresh and enjoy. After a steep climb the trail then takes us along the high cliffs of the coast, circumnavigating the canyons, towards Taganana. All along we enjoy the impressive views of the Anaga coast and islets. At last, through vineyards and fruit orchards, we arrive at the picturesque village of Taganana. On the small “plaza” we find the local food house to end the day with some traditional “tapas” This is a moderate hike with a duration of approximately 4 hours at a comfortable pace.
